Celebrating New Milestones in Milan

In November, two members of our team traveled to Milan and spent seven design-filled days celebrating new milestones with our manufacturers and visiting their factories in Brianza. They had a chance to spend time with and reconnect with the families that run Porro, Living Divani, Baxter and Paola Lenti, as well as with the CEO and key members of the Boffi and De Padova companies.

One of our first stops in Milan was visiting De Padova’s brand new showroom on Via Santa Cecilia. After 50 years at their iconic location on Corso Venezia, the new 1,000+ square meter showroom opened in the beginning of November. Designed and styled by creative director Piero Lissoni, the space reflects the way we live today, or at least would like to live.

More a concept store than a traditional showroom, the space spans two floors, resembling an industrial loft with living, sleeping and dining areas, seamlessly integrating bathrooms, kitchens and wardrobes by Boffi. The result is a masterfully executed atmosphere that is bright, open, minimal and elegant. It’s a fresh vision for a flagship store and well worth a visit if you make it to Milan.

Not to be outdone, iconic Italian furniture brand Baxter, known for its unique designs and leather craftsmanship, celebrated the grand opening of its own flagship store in Milan in conjunction with its 25th anniversary. We celebrated with the extended global Baxter family at the new Baxter Cinema. Formerly the site of a movie theater in the heart of Milan’s fashion and design district, a theatrical mood imbues the design and layout, with deep, rich colors throughout and moody ambient lighting. We were inspired enough to place a large showroom order when we got back to San Francisco. Look for many new pieces in our showroom sometime in April.
