The residence at Old Adobe Road is over 12,000 sq. ft. of new construction on multiple levels in three separate structures with plenty of outdoor space. Our challenge was to create a cohesive design over so much space that also reflected the way the primary living spaces opened directly into the large outdoor areas. Though the house is contemporary, it is not overly austere or modern. The fixtures and detailing are actually quite luxe, with large marble tops in the kitchen, bar and master bath, as well as a custom bronze sculptural cladding on the fireplace. The interior paint is also beige rather than white, opting for warmth over coolness. Taking our cues from these design elements, we chose to primarily use furnishings by Italian brand Baxter, with its sumptuous leather, warm colors and stone, lacquered, and wood tables, throughout the common areas of the main house. We transitioned to the expansive deck off the living room with a custom Living Divani curved sofa facing an outdoor modular sofa so that the indoor and outdoor space are in direct communication. Similarly, the poolside cabana has a large white sectional that faces a large white outdoor dining table next to the outdoor kitchen.
The home presents a carefully curated fine art collection created expressly for this project. The gallery-worthy collection of works of original fine art pays homage to the superlative natural setting of this residence. Works of art in various media including painting on canvas, mixed media and original fine art photography are arranged throughout the residence to enhance the experience of these spaces. The collection recognizes the dynamic talent and energy of the region with a focus on the top artists of the San Francisco Bay Area.
